Dr. Physilia Chua earned her PhD from the Environmental DNA group at the University of Copenhagen in 2021. Her PhD is centered on using high-throughput sequencing technologies such as metabarcoding, metagenomics, and genome skimming to reconstruct the diet of animals and generate DNA reference data. Currently, she is a postdoctoral fellow in the Tree of Life group at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. Her research on the BIOSCAN project (https://www.sanger.ac.uk/collaboration/bioscan/) utilizes barcoding to monitor flying insect diversity across the UK, simultaneously revealing any insect-environment interactions using targeted amplicon panels.
