Dr. Takahiro Ohde is an assistant professor in Kyoto University. His main research interest has been on the evolutionary developmental mechanism underlying morphological diversity in insects. Based on the interest, he has studied development on several insects such as the ametabolous firebrat, the hemimetabolous cricket and the holometabolous beetles through his carrier. His recent work includes functional study of wing gene orthologs in insects from basal to derived lineages for an understanding of the mechanism of novel wing evolution in insects. Dr. Ohde completed his PhD in Nagoya University, and did his postdoctoral study at New York University Langone Medical Center. He then joined National Institute for Basic Biology, and came to his current position.
