During the past 12 years, Dr. Lin has focused on the pathogenesis and therapeutics of primary Sjögrens’s syndrome (pSS), a common but underinvestigated autoimmune disease. The prevalence of pSS ranged from 0.7-1.2% of the whole population. pSS patients suffered from effective treatment owing to the lack of understanding of disease pathogenesis and suitable drug screening platform. Dr. Lin’s recent research has established an inducible model with experimental Sjögren’s syndrome (ESS) in wild-type mice, which highly recapitulates human disease. Based on this model, together with clinical biopsies, Dr. Lin has reported a series of key findings in understanding the pSS pathogenesis and provided proof-of-concept evidence of promising candidates for the treatment. Currently, Dr. Lin is an Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong.
