Dr. Dan Tian is a Professor at the Capital Medical University and the Vice Director of the General Surgery Laboratory of the National Clinical Research Center for Digestive Diseases in Beijing Friendship Hospital, China. His lab focuses on intestinal immunology and the interaction of microbiota, nerves, and metabolites involved in digestive tract inflammation and tumor. The overall aim is the development of local immunological mechanisms of intestinal inflammation and cancer progression and to explore novel targets for therapeutic intervention. He focuses on mechanisms of cell communication, cytotoxicity, and immune regulation by intestinal residential immune cells and local non-immune cells, including nerve, goblet cells, enterochromaffin cells, and microbiota. Methods including organoid, single-cell sequencing, and digital spatial profiler are being used and developed to explore the detailed immunologic mechanism in cell interaction and disease progress.
