Dr. Dagenais earned her PhD from the Institute of Parasitology at McGill University for studies on extracellular vesicles (EVs) released from the parasitic trematode Schistosoma mansoni. She also spent some time at Queen’s University in Belfast, where she had the opportunity to investigate EVs from other parasites, notably the nematode Ascaris suum. She is currently a scientific postdoctoral collaborator in the department of Medical Parasitology and Infection Biology at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, working in the laboratory of Prof. Jennifer Keiser, where she is involved in multiple projects related to parasitology, molecular biology and parasite-microbe interactions.
