Dr Jiayan Liao is a Chancellor's Research Fellow at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), specializing in nanomaterials, optical microscopy, bio-/nano-interface engineering, analytical chemistry, instrumentation development, and point-of-care diagnostics. With a PhD completed at UTS in 2020, her research focuses on utilizing photonics and nanomaterials with exceptional optical properties for biomedical applications. She aims to develop sensitive bio-detection methods, in vivo imaging techniques, and point-of-care diagnostics to detect single-molecule biomarkers of diseases. Dr Liao's efforts are directed toward translating these technologies into practical tools for real-time biomarker detection, non-invasive imaging, and convenient point-of-care diagnostics. By combining her expertise in nanomaterials, optical techniques, and analytical chemistry, she strives to make significant contributions to the field and improve healthcare outcomes.
