Dr. Adele Gabba received her BSc and MSc in chemistry from the University of Insubria, a small public university in the north of Italy. She moved to Ireland in 2015 and joined the group of Prof. Paul Murphy at the University of Galway, where she worked on the structural elucidation of the immune-relevant lectin MGL and on the synthesis of multivalent glycoclusters to target lectins. In July 2020, she joined the group of Prof. Pol Besenius at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, where she worked on the development of supramolecular vaccines.
Dr. Gabba is since 2021 a postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the group of Prof. Laura L. Kiessling. Her research is funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (LectiNet ID: 886709) and in her current project she leverages polymeric scaffold to develop structurally defined carbohydrate vaccines candidates and explore dendritic cells' immune response upon synergetic engagement of C-type lectins receptors on their surfaces
