Liu Liu earned her BSc in Bioengineering from The Sichuan University of Science and Engineering in 2010, followed by an MSc in Microbiology from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2013. In 2019, she completed her PhD in Biomedical Sciences at Oakland University, focusing on trace elements' role in liver function. As a Postdoc Fellow at the NIDDK, NIH since November 2019, Dr. Liu investigates distinct GPCR signaling pathways in metabolic organs, including pancreatic islets and brown adipose tissue. Using designer GPCRs (DREDDs), her work delves into glucagon secretion from pancreatic α cells via Gq and Gs pathways and the impact of Gi signaling on brown adipose tissue thermogenesis.
