Dr. Chun-Hao Chen is an assistant professor at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology, National Taiwan University. He earned a Ph.D. and had early postdoctoral training under the supervision of Prof. Chun-Liang Pan to study neuronal development in nematode Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) at the Institute of Molecular Medicine, National Taiwan University. He then shifted his research interest and joined Prof. Paul Sternberg’s lab at Caltech, studying genetic and neural mechanisms of mate discrimination in C. elegans males. Following the postdoctoral training, the Chen lab focuses on neural mechanisms of social behaviors using C. elegans as a model organism. Specifically, his lab studies how C. elegans males search, recognize, and stay with conspecific and reproductive mates. His research reveals that C. elegans males share many similar behavioral and neural responses of mate recognition in metazoans, shedding light on conserved neural principles for social interactions in nematodes.
