Dr. Zheng Deng is an associate researcher of the State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Diseases in Guangzhou Medical University. He obtained his doctoral degree in respiratory physiology/pharmacology from Pekin University in 2014. He began his work as a postdoctoral candidate in respiratory diseases at Guangzhou Medical University. His main research direction is the pathogenesis of cough and asthma. Dr. Deng has made significant contributions to respiratory research, notably discovering the positive impact of interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) on cough sensitivity (AJRCCM, 2018). His subsequent findings in AAIR (2022) highlighted IFN-γ's role in inducing pulmonary lymphocytic inflammation. Further insights, as published in Int.Immunopharmacol (2023) revealed lymphoid tissue proliferation with intrapulmonary IFN-γ instillation. Dr. Deng also linked elevated pulmonary IFN-γ levels to chronic refractory cough (Thorax, 2022), showcasing his impactful research in the field. He has successfully led and contributed to two National Natural Science Foundation of China projects and four additional scientific research endeavours. Furthermore, his dedication has resulted in the acquisition of two national invention patents in China.
