Christian Vanhove graduated from Brussels University as a biomedical engineer in 1990. From 1991 until 2011, he worked as a medical physicist expert in nuclear medicine, researching all aspects of medical imaging, including image reconstruction, image registration, and image quantification. In 2004, Christian Vanhove obtained his PhD in medical science. During his PhD, a new algorithm for the automatic segmentation and quantification of gated blood pool SPECT images was developed and validated. In 2005, he was one of the initiators of the preclinical imaging facility at Brussels University. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at this facility, with research focused on quantitative pinhole SPECT. In 2011, he joined the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Technology of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Ghent University, where he is head of the preclinical imaging facility. The primary research domains of this facility are the evaluation of pathophysiology in neurological diseases and cancer. Christian Vanhove is an associate professor and lecturer in biomedical engineering.
