Dr. Candiota holds a Pharmacy degree and earned her PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) in 2005. From 2007 to 2023, she held a permanent postdoctoral position at the Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red: Bioingeniería, Biomateriales y Nanomedicina, affiliated with the NMR Biomedical Applications Group (GABRMN) at UAB. During this tenure, she developed expertise in preclinical models of brain tumors, encompassing induced and genetically engineered models. These models formed the foundation for noninvasive studies of tumor grading and response to therapy using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and spectroscopy methods, augmented by the application of artificial intelligence for data analysis. Furthermore, the research group conducted experiments with various therapeutic approaches and novel contrast agents in their preclinical models through collaborative efforts worldwide. In 2023, Dr. Candiota attained a permanent position as Associate Professor at UAB and assumed leadership of the GABRMN group. Presently, the group focuses on comprehending changes in the tumor microenvironment following successful therapy and their manifestation in MRI/MRSI data, thereby enhancing noninvasive monitoring. Continued collaboration also fuels the group's interest in innovative therapeutic strategies rooted in nanotherapy.
