Klytaimnistra Kiouptsi, PhD, is a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Thrombosis and Hemostasis in the University Medical Center of Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. Dr. Kiouptsi completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Ioannina, Greece, where she specialized in Biological Applications and Technologies. She holds a Master's degree in biochemistry. For her doctoral research, Dr. Kiouptsi investigated the influence of gut microbiota, hypoxia, and F8-deficiency on plasmatic von Willebrand factor levels and integrin αIIbβ3 mediated platelet function, culminating in the award of her PhD. Subsequently, she has directed her focus towards exploring the effect of gut microbiota on thrombosis. In her postdoctoral role, Dr. Kiouptsi utilizes intravital microscopy and the gnotobiotic facility in Mainz to conduct her research under the mentorship of Professor Christoph Reinhardt. Dr. Kiouptsi's work promises to deepen our understanding of the intricate interplay between gut microbiota and thrombosis, contributing to advancements in the field of hematology.
