Dr. Angom Ramcharan is a vascular biologist serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, Florida. His long-term research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying endothelial cell (EC) dysfunction and vascular remodeling in neurological and cardiovascular diseases. He utilizes genetically engineered zebrafish and mouse models to investigate VEGF receptor signalling that regulates vascular remodeling in both cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, including the role of key mediators in endothelial cells that mediate the inflammatory response, vascular permeability, and senescence. His primary research areas include exploring the function of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) receptor signaling in heart regeneration, aging, and stroke.
