Dr. Yang Yang is an assistant professor in the Roy J. Carver Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular Biology at Iowa State University. His research focuses on the mechanisms underlying various nucleic acid processes during the replication, transcription, and processing of viral and bacterial genomes. His lab utilizes a combination of structural biology, protein-RNA biochemistry, and cell biological approaches to study these phenomena. 

Dr. Yang earned his PhD from the University of Minnesota, where he investigated the mechanisms of receptor recognition and cell entry of coronaviruses. He completed postdoctoral research at Yale University, focusing on the structural studies of fundamental protein-nucleic acid complexes involved in DNA/RNA replication, transcription, and transposition.
