Prof. Kenichiro Sakaguchi earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the School of Veterinary Medicine at Hokkaido University in 2013. After working as a veterinarian at the ZEN-NOH Embryo Transfer Center for three years, he returned to Hokkaido University's Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine, where he obtained his PhD in 2019. His research focused on the growth of bovine oocytes using both in vivo and in vitro techniques involving growing follicles. 

Following his PhD, Prof. Sakaguchi conducted postdoctoral research on the development of bovine primordial and secondary follicles at the Institute of Cell Biology, University of Edinburgh. He is currently an associate professor in the Joint Department of Veterinary Medicine at Gifu University. His research emphasizes bovine follicular development and assisted reproductive technologies, particularly in vitro embryo production and the in vitro growth of immature oocytes. Additionally, he has experience with other species, including human ovarian tissue culture, and the ovum pick-up process in water buffaloes and camels.
