Dr. Kartik Rajagopalan, MD, PhD, is an assistant professor of internal medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where his laboratory uses mouse models to study how energy is regulated during infection. He earned his MD and PhD through the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at UT Southwestern Medical Center and completed his internal medicine residency and Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center, followed by a postdoctoral research fellowship at Rockefeller University.

Dr. Rajagopalan worked in the intensive care unit at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, an experience that inspired him to pursue the study of infection in the laboratory.
