Dr. Heedoo Lee is a Professor in the Department of Biology and Chemistry at Changwon National University in Korea. His main research topic is the biological/physiological function of extracellular vesicles (EVs) and non-coding RNAs in pulmonary diseases, including acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress syndrome.
In 2013, he obtained his PhD from Yonsei University, Korea, with support from BK21 PLUS (Brain Korea 21 Program for Leading Universities & Students), which was supported by the Korean government. During 2014 – 2019, he had postdoctoral training at Washington University in St. Louis, Brigham and Women's Hospital (affiliated with Harvard Medical School), and Boston University School of Medicine.
His research was focused on the biological roles of non-coding RNAs in pulmonary EVs under acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress syndrome. During the past five years, his research has led to publications in internationally renowned journals, including the Journal of Experimental Medicine, Journal of Immunology, American Journal of Physiology-Lung Cellular and Molecular Physiology, Scientific Reports, and Journal of Controlled Release. In 2020, he began a faculty position at Changwon National University, Korea. Now, his research continuously contributes to the field of lung diseases associated with pulmonary EVs and non-coding RNAs.
