Dr. Adam D. Thomas is a senior lecturer in human genetics and genomics at the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, UK. Adam joined the academic team at UWE in 2017 after postgraduate and postdoctoral stints at Swansea University, Cardiff University, and the Institut fuer Toxikologie in Mainz, Germany. Adam is a new career researcher and recipient of the VC award to establish a research team to investigate the cellular signaling response to DNA damage and how this determines the subsequent fate of cells. His research team uses a variety of methods to quantify damage, such as the levels of adducts and strand breaks, and methods such as western blot and whole-omic approaches using RNAseq to measure the cellular response.
