Dhrubajyoti Chowdhury earned his Ph.D in Neuroscience at Centro de Investigacion Medica Aplicada (CIMA), University of Navarra, Pamplona, Spain under the supervision of Isabel Perez-Otano. His work identified the molecular determinants for the endocytic trafficking of GluN3A-NMDARs in cultured rat neurons. Following his Ph.D, he moved to University of California Davis for his postdoctoral training with Prof. Johannes W. Hell. During his postdoctoral research (American Heart Association award), he described the role of palmitoylation in regulating synaptic plasticity at excitatory synapses, particularly long-term depression and homeostatic downscaling. Dr. Chowdhury specializes in molecular mechanisms and biochemical signaling of glutamatergic synapses. Currently at Yale University, he is working with Dr. Thomas Biederer to investigate the subsynaptic spatial organization of synaptic cleft molecules and their dynamic regulation in synaptic plasticity.
