Affiliation: Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein

Cecilia Gallottini de Magalhaes, PhD, is a Schmidt Science Fellow and a visiting researcher at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, and a former postdoctoral fellow in the Gladyshev lab at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School. She obtained her PhD in systems biology from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of São Paulo. During her postdoctoral training, she studied the role of microglia in brain aging, using single-nucleus RNA sequencing and histological approaches to characterize how these cells contribute to central nervous system aging trajectories. She currently collaborates with Prof. Bruno Matuck, applying spatial transcriptomics to study aging across human organs, and is developing an independent research program integrating neuroimmunology and aging biology, focusing on microglia as drivers of biological brain aging and cognitive decline.
