Dr. Richard Inho Joh is an associate professor in the Department of Physics at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). His research focuses on genome and chromatin organization, with an emphasis on the mechanisms underlying heterochromatin assembly. He is also actively involved in developing computational and statistical frameworks to investigate how transcriptional regulation influences tumor progression and aggressiveness.
His laboratory operates at the interface of physics, molecular biology, and data science, using diverse model systems ranging from fission yeast to human cells. Dr. Joh earned his PhD in physics from the Georgia Institute of Technology and subsequently held postdoctoral positions at MIT and Harvard Medical School before joining VCU.
