James Ziai is a Senior Pathologist at Genentech, Inc. where he supports immuno-oncology drug discovery and serves as a Scientific Lead for non-optical, tissue-based multiplex assay development in the Translational Tissue Technology lab. He is board certified in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, Hematopathology. and Molecular Pathology and is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists. He completed his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Yale New Haven Hospital and his fellowships in hematopathology and molecular pathology at Stanford Hospital and Clinics and Yale New Hospital, respectively. At Genentech, he provides pathology expertise to support pre-clinical and clinical drug development programs in cancer immunology and has led efforts for early adoption of non-optical multiplexing methods including imaging mass cytometry, multiplex ion beam imaging, and Nanostring’s Digital Spatial Profiling (DSP) technology.
