Sandra Anjo graduated in Biotechnology in 2009, completed her master’s degree in Biomedical Research with specialization in Neuroscience in 2011, and her PhD degree in Biosciences at the University of Coimbra in 2017. She was a postdoc fellow in a project devoted to biomarker discovery in diseases that have synaptic dysfunction as a common denominator, and since October 2018, she has been an auxiliary researcher at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology – University of Coimbra, in charge of co-coordinating a translational project for biomarker discovery in Hypoxic-Ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). Sandra has been working in neuroproteomics since her master’s project, which was devoted to the study of a redox-regulated protein related to Parkinson’s Disease. Over the course of her career, she has been actively involved in the development of effective quantitative mass spectrometry (MS) strategies for discovery proteomics, using the SWATH-MS method. Importantly, Sandra has pioneered SWATH-MS use in Portugal and is amongst its most experienced users, as demonstrated by her 30 publications using this method. She also developed a new proteomics approaches using this method devoted to the analysis of cysteine redox states (OxSWATH) [Redox Biology 22 (2019) 101130].
