Dr. Kyung-Ho Roh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering Department at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Dr. Roh received his PhD in macromolecular science and engineering from the University of Michigan in 2008, and his MS and BS degrees in fiber and polymer science and engineering from Seoul National University, South Korea. Upon completion of his PhD, he studied for five years at the School of Medicine at Stanford University for his postdoctoral research on T cell immunology. Immediately before joining UAH, Dr. Roh worked as a Research Scientist in the Biomedical Engineering Department at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he also served as a Program Manager for the National Cell Manufacturing Consortium.

His ongoing research interests are at the intersection of biomaterials engineering and immunology, with three overarching themes of developing molecular engineering strategies to fortify or interrupt various receptor-ligand interactions, developing biomaterials-based artificial microenvironments for effective induction of adaptive immunity, and leveraging biomaterials for controlled immuno-activation or modulation in selective immune cell populations. The end goal of his research is the development of biomaterials-enabled translational cellular and molecular immunotherapies.
