Organizational Control

Organizational control is the coordinated system of policies, procedures, information, and managerial actions used to guide an organization toward its objectives while limiting unwanted variation and risk. In accounting, it works through planning and performance standards, budgets, responsibility centers, internal controls, and feedback from financial reports; managers compare actual results with expected results, investigate variances, and adjust operations or resource allocations. These processes strengthen accountability, support stewardship of assets, improve decision-making, and help organizations respond to changing conditions without losing strategic direction. Effective organizational control also links daily activities to strategy and provides evidence for governance and regulatory oversight.
