Home-based Telerehabilitation

Home-based telerehabilitation is the delivery of rehabilitation assessment, education, and exercise support to patients in their homes through telecommunications technologies, extending care beyond clinical facilities. It works through remote communication, digital instructions, and patient-reported or device-based feedback, allowing clinicians to monitor performance, adapt activities, and reinforce adherence without requiring every visit in person. In behavior-focused research, this approach provides a practical setting for studying motivation, self-management, treatment engagement, and habit formation during everyday routines. It can improve access for people facing travel or mobility barriers while generating real-world information about how rehabilitation behaviors influence functional recovery and long-term participation.
