Time Lock Analysis

Time lock analysis is a method for examining how behavior changes in relation to a precisely timed event, such as a stimulus, response, or environmental transition. It works by aligning observations or measurements to a shared reference time, dividing the surrounding period into defined intervals, and comparing event-linked patterns across trials or conditions. In behavioral research, this approach can reveal response latency, preparation, persistence, and changes in activity that may be obscured in averages across entire sessions. It supports the study of stimulus-response relationships, learning, decision-making, and temporal coordination while helping researchers connect observed behavior with the timing of experimental events.

Self-Locking Screw

2023

A square-threaded screw jack is a mechanical device widely used for lifting heavy loads or applying considerable force. One of the key features that can make a screw jack more effective and reliable is its self-locking capability. A square-threaded screw jack carrying a load is considered self-locking if the screw retains its position even after the moment applied to it is removed. This occurs when the frictional force direction reverses, and the reaction force acts on the other side of the...

Noncompartmental Analysis: Mean Residence Time

2025

According to statistical moment theory, mean residence time (MRT) is an important measure in pharmacokinetics. MRT can be defined as the expected mean of a probability density function distribution. It provides valuable insights into drug disposition in the body. After the administration of a drug through intravenous bolus injection, the drug molecules are distributed throughout the body and remain there for varying periods. The MRT represents the average time these drug molecules stay in the...

2016

A protocol to detect and automate mode locking in a pre-adjusted nonlinear polarization rotation fiber laser is presented. The detection of a sudden change in the output polarization state when mode locking occurs is used to command the alignment of an intra-cavity polarization controller in order to find mode-locking conditions.

This method allows monitoring of cells in real time and quantitative measurements of different cell migration parameters such as speed, displacement, and velocity. Unlike the traditional methods, this real time approach is not based on endpoint quantitative migration measurements; instead it allows monitoring and calculating different parameters continuously.
