Dcas12a Vpr

dCas12a VPR is a CRISPR-based transcriptional activation tool that regulates gene expression without cutting DNA, making it useful for programmable control of cellular functions in bioengineering. A guide RNA directs catalytically inactive Cas12a to a target DNA sequence, where the attached VPR activation domain recruits transcriptional machinery and promotes transcription from the nearby gene. By changing the guide sequence, researchers can activate selected endogenous genes and investigate gene function, construct synthetic regulatory circuits, or reprogram cell behavior. Its compatibility with multiplexed guide arrays also supports coordinated regulation of multiple genes in a single experiment.

Source: Hamna J. Qureshi and Craig J. Goergen, Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana Here we will highlight the key similarities and differences of noninvasive blood pressure measurement techniques between humans and rodents and examine the engineering principles that govern blood pressure. The principles that govern current cuff technology to acquire systolic and diastolic pressures will also be discussed. Commercially available cuffs that connect...
