Interbody Device

An interbody device is a spinal implant placed between adjacent vertebral bodies to replace or support a damaged intervertebral disc and restore spinal structure. During interbody fusion, the device maintains disc height and alignment while transferring mechanical loads; when combined with bone graft, its space can support bone growth across the motion segment, leading to biological fusion. These devices are used to treat degenerative disc disease, spinal instability, deformity, and other conditions requiring disc removal or stabilization. Their design links biomechanics with bone healing, making them important in spine biology, implant integration, and reconstructive surgery.
