Microbiome Community Analysis

Microbiome community analysis is the study of microorganisms living together in a defined environment, including their composition, diversity, and relationships, to understand how communities influence biological systems. Researchers typically collect samples, profile microbial DNA or other molecular signals, and use bioinformatics to compare taxonomic abundance, community diversity, and patterns of co-occurrence across conditions. In biology, these analyses help link microbial communities to host health, development, environmental change, and disease-associated shifts. They also support hypothesis generation for experiments, identification of potential biomarkers, and evaluation of how diet, treatment, or habitat affects microbial community structure and function.

Populations do not live in isolation; thus, every population interacts with others in certain ways. These interactions give rise to a network of populations. Hence, an ecological community is composed of such population networks of various species interacting with each other within the same area. These biological, or biotic, components may also closely interact with non-living, or abiotic, components, forming an ecosystem. Ecosystems may be as small as the microbial communities inside the human...
