Scanner Compatible Goggles

Scanner-compatible goggles are optical devices designed to deliver visual stimuli inside MRI and other imaging scanners while maintaining participant safety and preserving image quality. Typically constructed from nonferromagnetic materials, they use fiber-optic pathways or scanner-compatible displays to present images, patterns, or videos, often synchronized with image acquisition so researchers can control stimulus timing precisely. In biology and neuroscience, these goggles support functional MRI studies of vision, attention, perception, and sensory processing by linking controlled visual input to changes in brain activity. Their compatibility enables repeatable experiments while reducing motion and improving the reliability of measurements in the scanner environment.

2016

A scanner for imaging magnetic particles in planar samples was developed using the planar frequency mixing magnetic detection technique. The magnetic intermodulation product response from the nonlinear nonhysteretic magnetization of the particles is recorded upon a two-frequency excitation. It can be used to take 2D images of thin biological samples.

Source: Robert M. Rioux & Taslima A. Zaman, Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA While the use of various chemicals in experimental research is essential, it is also important to safely store and maintain them as a part of the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) program. The properties of chemicals and their reactivity vary broadly and if chemicals are not managed, stored, and labeled properly, they can have harmful or even destructive consequences such as toxic fume...
