Magnetic Spheroid Drive

Magnetic spheroid drive is a technique for positioning and manipulating three-dimensional cell spheroids with externally applied magnetic forces, enabling controlled study of tumor-like tissues in cancer research. The method uses magnetically responsive spheroids or embedded magnetic materials, while a magnetic field or field gradient produces movement, alignment, or controlled contact between spheroids and other model components. This approach supports the construction of reproducible 3D cancer models for examining cell behavior, tissue interactions, invasion, and responses to therapeutic compounds. By improving control over spheroid placement and handling, magnetic actuation can strengthen experimental consistency and expand the capabilities of in vitro tumor research.
