Co-impregnation Method

The co-impregnation method is a materials-preparation technique in which two or more chemical components are introduced simultaneously into a porous solid or support, helping produce composite materials with controlled composition. A solution containing the selected precursors contacts the support, allowing capillary action and pore diffusion to distribute them throughout the structure; drying and subsequent thermal treatment can convert the precursors into the desired active phases. In chemistry, this approach is widely used to prepare supported catalysts, adsorbents, and functional materials. Co-impregnation can improve component mixing, simplify synthesis, and influence dispersion, phase formation, and catalytic performance.

In this work, we prepared an adsorbent composed of the cationic N,N-dimethylamino propylacrylamide methyl chloride quaternary (DMAPAAQ) polymer gel and iron hydroxide for adsorbing arsenic from groundwater. The gel was prepared via a novel method designed to ensure the maximum content of iron particles in its structure.

A Synthetic Methodology for Preparing Impregnated and Grafted Amine-Based Silica Composites for Carbon Capture

This work aims to facilitate the development of standardized techniques for impregnating or grafting aminated compounds onto silica substrates, which are often broadly described in the literature. Specific amounts of solvent, substrate, amines, and the values of other important experimental parameters will be discussed in detail.

Experimental Implementation of a New Composite Fabrication Method: Exposing Bare Fibers on the Composite Surface by the Soft Layer Method

2017

A protocol to expose bare fibers on the composite surface by eliminating resin rich area is presented. The fibers are exposed during fabrication of the composites, not by the post surface treatment. The exposed carbon composites exhibit high electrical conductivity in the through-thickness direction and high mechanical property.

We present a protocol for using the Golgi-Cox staining method in thick brain sections, in order to visualize neurons with long dendritic trees contained within single tissue samples. Two variants of this protocol are also presented that involve cresyl violet counterstaining, and the freezing of unprocessed brains for long-term storage.
