Super Clean Room

A super clean room is a highly controlled laboratory environment designed to minimize airborne particles, chemical contamination, and other impurities that can compromise sensitive chemical processes. It maintains cleanliness through high-efficiency air filtration, regulated airflow, positive pressure, controlled temperature and humidity, and strict protocols for personnel, clothing, equipment, and materials. In chemistry, these conditions support reliable preparation and analysis of high-purity substances, fabrication of micro- and nanostructured materials, and experiments involving contamination-sensitive reactions or surfaces. Super clean rooms improve reproducibility, protect delicate samples, and enable researchers to study chemical behavior and manufacture advanced materials with greater precision.

2023

Source: Vy M. Dong and Daniel Kim, Department of Chemistry, University of California, Irvine, CA Organic synthesis is about transforming a readily available reagent into a more valuable product. Having clean glassware is crucial for the efficiency of this process. Dirty glassware can potentially affect the reaction and make isolation of the final product more challenging. Thus, a synthetic chemist must keep the glassware spotless. The methods described here will detail different glass cleaning...

Keeping the microscope optics clean is important for high-quality imaging. Dust, fingerprints, excess immersion oil, or mounting medium on or in a microscope causes reduction in contrast and resolution. DIC is especially sensitive to contamination and scratches on the lens surfaces. This protocol details the procedure for keeping the microscope clean.

Cleaning, Sterilization, and Disinfection

Cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization are the methods that help to break the infection chain and prevent disease. Cleaning The cleaning process usually involves using water with detergents or enzymatic cleaner and removing foreign material from objects and surfaces, including organic material such as body fluids or inorganic material like soil. Cleaning is performed before high-level disinfection and sterilization because foreign materials on the cover of the devices interfere with process...

2017

'Super-selective' adrenal venous sampling (ssAVS, also called segmental adrenal venous sampling: sAVS) was performed using a micro-catheter to identify adrenal segment(s) that produce excessive amounts of hormones. The ssAVS technique was described, cases in which adrenal segmental lesion(s) were identified by ssAVS were presented, and the usefulness of ssAVS in future adrenal research was discussed.

We describe a super-resolution imaging method to probe the structural organization of the bacterial FtsZ-ring, an essential apparatus for cell division. This method is based on quantitative analyses of photoactivated localization microscopy (PALM) images and can be applied to other bacterial cytoskeletal proteins.
