Personalized Dosing Approaches

Personalized dosing approaches are methods for selecting and adjusting medication doses to match an individual patient’s characteristics, treatment goals, and response. They combine factors such as age, body size, organ function, genetics, drug interactions, and pharmacokinetic or pharmacodynamic measurements to estimate drug exposure and optimize therapy. Clinicians may use therapeutic drug monitoring, pharmacogenomic information, or Bayesian dosing models to refine treatment as patient data change. These approaches can improve effectiveness, reduce adverse drug reactions, and support safer use of medicines with narrow therapeutic windows, making them valuable in clinical care and precision medicine.

Maslow's Humanistic Approach on Personality

2025

Abraham Maslow, a prominent figure in humanistic psychology, developed a theory centered on self-actualization, which he placed at the top of his hierarchy of needs. According to Maslow, self-actualization represents achieving one's full potential and is a rare accomplishment attained by approximately 2% of the population. Maslow identified notable historical figures such as Thomas Jefferson, Mahatma Gandhi, Helen Keller, and Martin Luther King Jr. as examples of self-actualized individuals.

Determining the optimal dose size and dosing frequency in pharmacotherapy is crucial for achieving therapeutic effectiveness while minimizing adverse effects. This article explores the methodologies employed in determining these parameters, focusing on their significance and interplay to tailor dosing regimens.Dose Size: Dose size refers to the amount of a drug administered in a single dose. It is determined based on the drug's pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics properties and...

Determination of Multiple Dosing Parameters: Loading and Maintenance Doses

A loading dose is an essential pharmacological strategy to rapidly achieve the target plasma drug concentration necessary for an immediate therapeutic effect. This approach is especially critical for drugs characterized by slow absorption or extended half-lives, where delaying therapeutic plasma levels could compromise treatment outcomes. By administering a loading dose, clinicians ensure a prompt onset of drug action, even for agents with complex pharmacokinetic profiles.Achieving steady-state...
