Polyp Removal Technique

Polyp removal technique refers to the clinical procedures used to excise polyps, abnormal tissue growths that may cause symptoms or require evaluation for precancerous or cancerous changes. Depending on the polyp’s location, size, and attachment, clinicians may use an endoscope with biopsy forceps or a snare to grasp and cut the tissue; electrocautery can help divide tissue and control bleeding. Removed specimens are typically preserved for histopathological examination, which guides diagnosis and follow-up. In gastrointestinal care, endoscopic polypectomy can treat lesions without open surgery, while careful visualization and retrieval support complete removal and reduce procedural risk.

2014

Vocal fold polyps can disrupt vocal fold dynamics and thus can have devastating consequences on a patient's ability to communicate. Three-dimensional flow separation induced by a wall-mounted model polyp and its impact on the wall pressure loading are examined using particle image velocimetry, skin friction line visualization, and wall pressure measurements.

Superior Lacrimal Gland Removal: A Surgical Technique to Remove the Palpebral and Orbital Parts of Superior Lacrimal Gland from Rabbit Model

2025

This video describes the surgical procedure to remove the two parts: palpebral and orbital of the superior lacrimal gland from a rabbit to create a dry eye disease model. This rabbit model is suitable for studies of ocular surface homeostasis, pathophysiology and ocular therapeutics.

A Stereotactically Guided Ablation Technique for Auditory Cortex Removal in Rats

2025

This video demonstrates a stereotactically-guided surgical procedure for ablating the auditory cortex in a rat. The steps include identifying anatomical landmarks in an anesthetized rat secured in a stereotactic frame, creating a window on the skull above the auditory cortex, aspirating the cortical layers, and providing post-operative care to assess the impact of the ablation on sound processing.
