Perivascular Catheterization

Perivascular catheterization is a technique for placing a catheter beside, rather than within, a blood vessel to access the vessel’s surrounding tissue and local environment. The catheter is positioned in the perivascular space, allowing localized infusion, sampling, or measurement while minimizing direct disruption of blood flow; placement and stabilization are especially important in small or developing organisms. In developmental biology, this approach can help examine how vascular signals, locally delivered factors, and tissue–vessel interactions influence organ formation and growth. It also supports controlled studies of vascular development by separating local effects from systemic responses.

Right Heart Catheterization: An OverviewRight heart catheterization is an invasive diagnostic procedure that measures right-sided cardiac and pulmonary artery pressures, calculates cardiac output, and identifies intracardiac shunts. It provides detailed hemodynamic data essential for diagnosing and managing various cardiovascular conditions, such as pulmonary hypertension.Access SitesCommon access sites for right heart catheterization include the internal jugular vein in the neck region, the...

The use of domestic and miniature pigs in science has increased significantly in recent years. By demonstrating how to perform intubation, transurethral bladder catheterization, femoral artery and vein catheterization, as well as transcardial perfusion, we aim to further increase the value of Göttingen minipigs in biomedical research.

Use of Human Perivascular Stem Cells for Bone Regeneration

Human perivascular stem cells (PSCs) are a novel stem cell class for skeletal tissue regeneration similar to mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). PSCs can be isolated by FACS (fluorescence activated cell sorting) from adipose tissue procured during standard liposuction procedures, then combined with an osteoinductive scaffold to achieve bone formation in vivo.
