Dye Injection

Dye injection is a tracer-based method in which a colored or fluorescent substance is introduced into a fluid to make its movement visible and assess transport behavior. As the dye follows the carrier fluid, its concentration and distribution reveal flow direction, velocity differences, mixing, diffusion, recirculation, and residence patterns; imaging or sampling can track these changes over time. In engineering, dye injection supports flow visualization in channels, pipes, porous media, and hydraulic systems, helping researchers evaluate designs, identify leaks or dead zones, validate computational models, and diagnose performance. The method provides a direct way to connect fluid behavior with system geometry and operating conditions.

An in vivo dissection of the adult Drosophila ventral nerve cord (VNC) is demonstrated. This particular dissection method causes little damage to the VNC allowing the subsequent labeling of the giant fiber neurons with fluorescent dye for high resolution imaging.

Guide Wire Assisted Catheterization and Colored Dye Injection for Vascular Mapping of Monochorionic Twin Placentas

2011

Vascular mapping of monochorionic (MC) twin placentas after birth provides a means for detailed demonstration of vascular connections between the twins’ circulations. Imbalance of these connections is thought to play a pivotal role in the development of complications of MC twinning including twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome.

Methylene Blue Dye Injection in Mouse Embryonic Urinary Tract: A Method To Assess the Congenital Obstruction in the Urinary Tract

Source: Tamara M. Powers, Department of Chemistry, Texas A&M University Today's modern world requires the use of a large amount of energy. While we harness energy from fossil fuels such as coal and oil, these sources are nonrenewable and thus the supply is limited. To maintain our global lifestyle, we must extract energy from renewable sources. The most promising renewable source, in terms of abundance, is the sun, which provides us with more than enough solar energy to fully fuel our...
