3d Spatial Visualization

3D spatial visualization is the graphical representation of objects, landscapes, and relationships in three dimensions, helping users interpret how features occupy and interact within space. It combines spatial data with coordinate systems, elevation or depth information, and rendering methods to construct models that can be viewed, measured, and manipulated from different perspectives. In environmental research, these visualizations integrate geographic information system layers, terrain models, and remote-sensing data to examine watersheds, vegetation, urban growth, and habitat structure. They support clearer communication, spatial analysis, scenario modeling, and planning by revealing patterns and connections that may be difficult to recognize in two-dimensional maps.

Source: Laboratory of Jonathan Flombaum—Johns Hopkins University Attention refers to the limited human ability to select some information for processing at the expense of other stimuli in the environment. Attention operates in all sensory modalities: vision, hearing, touch, even taste and smell. It is most often studied in the visual domain though. A common way to study visual attention is with a spatial cueing paradigm. This paradigm allows researchers to measure the consequences of focusing...

Integrating Automated Simulation Workflows with 3D Visualization for Virtual Experiments in the Metaverse

2026

A generalized, FAIR-compliant method is presented for domain-expert researchers seeking to integrate simulation and data-processing tools into automated workflows for 3D virtual experiments. A neutronics example demonstrates setting up a local Galaxy instance, wrapping OpenMC and file-conversion tools, launching workflows from Omniverse, and visualizing the converted 3D outputs.

We describe an immunohistochemistry protocol to study the profile of hippocampal neuron activation following exposure to a spatial learning task in a mouse model characterized by cognitive deficits of neurodevelopmental origin. This protocol can be applied to both genetic or pharmacological mouse models characterized by cognitive deficits.
