Simple Perpetuity

A simple perpetuity is a financial instrument or valuation model that provides equal cash payments at regular intervals indefinitely, making it useful for analyzing long-term income streams. Its present value is calculated by dividing the constant periodic payment by the discount rate, expressed as PV = C/r, assuming the first payment arrives one period from now and the rate remains constant. In finance, this model supports the valuation of preferred stock, perpetual bonds, and other assets with fixed ongoing distributions. It also provides a foundation for understanding growing perpetuities, discounted cash flow analysis, and investment pricing under stable conditions.
