Post-purchase Satisfaction

Post-purchase satisfaction is a customer’s evaluation of a product or service after purchase, based on whether the experience meets or exceeds expectations. It develops through expectation confirmation, as customers compare perceived performance, product quality, usability, and service interactions with their anticipated outcomes; positive confirmation strengthens satisfaction, while unmet expectations can produce dissatisfaction. In marketing, measuring post-purchase satisfaction helps organizations assess customer experience, identify service or product improvements, and anticipate outcomes such as repeat purchases, loyalty, recommendations, and complaints. Tracking satisfaction across the customer journey also provides evidence for refining value propositions and strengthening long-term customer relationships.
