Biceps Tenodesis

Biceps tenodesis is a surgical technique that treats pain and dysfunction caused by disease of the long head of the biceps tendon at the shoulder. During the procedure, the tendon is released from its attachment near the superior labrum and secured to the humerus, removing the damaged portion from the shoulder joint while preserving muscle length and tension. Surgeons may perform tenodesis arthroscopically or through a small open incision, often alongside treatment of rotator cuff tears or labral injuries. The procedure can reduce anterior shoulder pain, maintain biceps strength and contour, and support recovery in patients with tendinopathy or selected superior labral lesions.

Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty is indicated for the treatment of conditions that cannot be treated with conventional arthroplasty or other procedures. These primarily include degenerative and incapacitating conditions with irreparable rotator cuff and loss of the normal biomechanical coupling of the shoulder.
