Concavity Measurement

Concavity measurement is the quantitative assessment of an inward-curving surface, contour, or anatomical structure, providing an objective description of shape that supports clinical evaluation. In medical imaging or direct examination, clinicians define the relevant contour, establish a reference line or curve, and calculate inward deviation, depth, angle, or radius of curvature under standardized conditions. These measurements can characterize anatomical deformities, compare normal and abnormal morphology, and track changes over time. In medicine, concavity measurement contributes to diagnosis, treatment planning, surgical assessment, and monitoring of outcomes when consistent, reproducible descriptions of structural shape are needed.
