Fluorescently Labeled Tumor Cells

Fluorescently labeled tumor cells are cancer cells tagged with fluorescent proteins or chemical dyes so researchers can visualize and track them in biological systems. When exposed to an appropriate wavelength of light, the label absorbs energy and emits light at a longer wavelength, allowing the cells to be detected by fluorescence microscopy or related imaging methods. In medicine, this approach supports studies of tumor growth, invasion, metastasis, and responses to treatment in cell cultures and experimental models. By revealing where tumor cells move and how they interact with surrounding tissues, fluorescent labeling provides a powerful tool for cancer biology and therapeutic research.
