Radiotherapy Workflow Automation

Radiotherapy workflow automation is the use of software, standardized protocols, and connected clinical systems to coordinate radiation treatment from patient imaging through planning, verification, delivery, and follow-up. It works by transferring data between imaging, treatment-planning, oncology information, and linear-accelerator systems while applying predefined rules, task triggers, and automated checks to reduce manual handoffs and identify missing or inconsistent information. In medicine, automation can streamline scheduling, contouring and plan review, quality assurance, and treatment documentation, helping teams improve workflow consistency, safety, and capacity. Its growing role also supports adaptive radiotherapy, where updated patient anatomy can prompt faster plan adjustments during a treatment course.
