Red-green Duochrome

Red-green duochrome is a visual acuity test used in optometry to refine refractive correction by comparing how clearly a patient sees targets on red and green backgrounds. It relies on longitudinal chromatic aberration: because the eye bends shorter-wavelength green light more strongly than longer-wavelength red light, the two colors form focused images at slightly different planes, allowing clinicians to assess whether the eye is over- or under-corrected with spherical lenses. During subjective refraction, balanced clarity between the red and green targets helps identify the examination endpoint and can improve the precision of eyeglass or contact-lens prescriptions, although responses must be interpreted with other clinical findings.

Red Algae

2025

Red algae, also known as rhodophytes, are primarily found in marine environments, though some species inhabit freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems. These organisms exist in both unicellular and multicellular forms, with some multicellular varieties reaching macroscopic sizes. As phototrophic organisms, red algae contain chlorophyll a; however, their chloroplasts lack chlorophyll b. Instead, they possess phycobiliproteins, which serve as major light-harvesting pigments, similar to those found in...

2025

Green algae, also referred to as chlorophytes, are different from red algae in having the chloroplasts containing chlorophylls a and b, which give them their distinct green hue. However, they lack phycobiliproteins, preventing them from developing the red or blue-green pigmentation seen in red algae. In terms of photosynthetic pigment composition, green algae closely resemble plants and share a close evolutionary relationship with them. Taxonomically Green algae belong to Phylum Chlorophyta in...

Cited by 8 •

2015

The protocol described details an experimental procedure to quantify Red Blood Cell (RBC) aggregates under a controlled and constant shear rate, based on image processing techniques. The goal of this protocol is to relate RBC aggregate sizes to the corresponding shear rate in a controlled microfluidic environment.

The Green Shoe Provision

The Green Shoe Provision, also known as the over-allotment option, is a critical tool used in Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) to ensure price stability and balance supply-demand dynamics in the early stages of a stock’s public trading. Named after the Green Shoe Manufacturing Company, which was the first to use this provision, it enables underwriters to stabilize the market price of shares and mitigate volatility. The Green Shoe Provision allows underwriters to issue additional shares, typically...
