Stromal Dissection Technique

The stromal dissection technique is a surgical method for separating stromal tissue along an anatomical plane while preserving adjacent layers, particularly in corneal procedures. Surgeons create a controlled entry into the stroma and use blunt or sharp instruments to follow its lamellar architecture, reducing unnecessary tissue disruption and maintaining a clear operative field. In medicine, this approach supports procedures such as lamellar corneal transplantation and other surgeries that require selective stromal removal or exposure. Precise dissection can improve control over tissue depth, limit damage to healthy structures, and contribute to more predictable healing and visual outcomes.
