Three-port Surgery

Three-port surgery is a minimally invasive operative technique that uses three small access points, or ports, to introduce a camera and surgical instruments into the body. Through these ports, carbon dioxide insufflation typically creates working space, while a laparoscope provides visualization and instruments allow tissue manipulation, dissection, and repair without a large incision. In medicine, this approach can support procedures in general surgery, gynecology, urology, and other specialties, depending on the target anatomy and operation. Compared with open surgery, it may reduce tissue disruption, postoperative pain, and recovery time, although outcomes depend on patient factors, surgeon expertise, and procedure selection.

2026

This study describes a standardized surgical procedure for single-port endoscopic axillary lymph node dissection without liposuction in breast cancer. Indicated for patients with biopsy-confirmed nodal metastasis or positive sentinel lymph nodes, the technique emphasizes preservation of critical structures, particularly the intercostobrachial nerve, to reduce postoperative morbidity and optimize functional recovery.
