Anti-vegf Therapy

Anti-VEGF therapy is a treatment strategy that blocks vascular endothelial growth factor, a signaling protein that promotes blood-vessel formation and increases vascular permeability. Therapeutic antibodies or related biologics bind VEGF or inhibit its receptor pathways, reducing abnormal vessel growth and fluid leakage; in retinal care, clinicians commonly deliver these agents by intravitreal injection. Within neuroscience, anti-VEGF therapy is central to managing retinal diseases such as neovascular age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, and retinal vein occlusion, helping preserve visual function. Its clinical use also illustrates how targeting neurovascular signaling can modify disease-related changes at the blood-retina barrier.

Utilizing patient-derived tumors in a subcutaneous preclinical model is an excellent way to study the efficacy of novel therapies, predictive biomarker discovery, and drug resistant pathways. This model, in the drug development process, is essential in determining the fate of many novel anti-cancer therapies prior to clinical investigation.

Dynamic Adhesion Assay for the Functional Analysis of Anti-adhesion Therapies in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Dynamic adhesion of immune cells to the vessel wall is a prerequisite for gut homing. Here, we present a protocol for a functional in vitro assay for the impact analysis of anti-integrin antibodies, chemokines or other factors on the dynamic cell adhesion of human cells using addressin-coated capillaries.

Isolation and Characterization of Neutrophils with Anti-Tumor Properties

Neutrophils play an important role not only in host defense against invading microorganisms, but are also involved in the immune surveillance of tumor cells. Here, we describe techniques related to the isolation of neutrophils with anti-tumor properties and methods for monitoring anti-tumor neutrophil function in vitro and in vivo.

An Assay to Detect Serum Anti-aquaporin-4 Immunoglobulin G

The video demonstrates a cell-based assay for detecting anti-aquaporin-4 immunoglobulin G using a biochip containing untransfected cells and transfected cells expressing aquaporin-4. This method has applications in diagnosing neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders, confirmed by strong green fluorescence on the biochip.

An Adjuvant Therapy in a Mouse Model with an Incompletely Resected Subcutaneous Tumor

This video illustrates testing of adjuvant or additional therapy in a mouse model with incompletely resected subcutaneous tumors. The partially tumor-resected mouse is treated with an antibody targeting the anti-cytotoxic protein of T regulatory cells, potentially reducing tumor regrowth and suggesting effective adjuvant therapy.
